Ward 3 Year-in-Review
As we approach the first working city council meeting of 2026 on January 12th, please take a look at this Ward 3 year-in-review. My first term was very productive, and I learned a lot. My second term will continue to push solutions for single-family neighborhood protection, fiscal responsibility, traffic and safety, and improving the quality of life in Ward 3. More details are always available here at WalthamWard3.com. Thank you for your support!
It was another busy year at City Hall, with lots of work focused on keeping Ward 3 moving forward while protecting our neighborhoods.
🏛️ City Council Work
We wrapped up the year with key votes on budgets, grants, and policy items, while setting the stage for continued work in 2026. We also took time to recognize and thank Councillors Kathy McMenimen and Tom Stanley for their decades of service to Waltham.
🏗️ Development & Planning
Several large development proposals, including zoning overlay requests from Boston Properties, were introduced this year. These ideas are still in the early stages and will continue to go through committee review, public hearings, and council scrutiny before any final decisions are made.
🚦 Traffic & Neighborhood Safety
Traffic concerns remained a top issue in Ward 3. This year we worked on traffic calming measures, signage, enforcement, and intersection safety, including steps to reduce truck noise, speeding, and cut-through traffic. These efforts are ongoing, and resident feedback continues to guide next steps.
🛣️ Infrastructure & Historic Preservation
The council approved major investments in roads, utilities, and infrastructure, including work at 200 Trapelo Road. We also secured CPA funding to help preserve the historic Wellington House right here in Ward 3. We also took delivery of three new fire engines.
🏘️ Quality of Life Issues
From rat mitigation and noise concerns to licensing and public safety tools, we focused on the everyday issues that affect residents’ quality of life.
💰 City Finances
Through the annual tax classification process, the council adopted policies to shift as much of the tax burden as legally allowed away from homeowners, resulting in a modest residential tax increase.
🤝 Community & Recognition
Throughout the year, we celebrated community events, youth sports teams, longtime residents, and the people who make Ward 3 such a great place to live.
Thank you to everyone who reached out, attended meetings, or shared concerns this year. Your input makes a real difference, and I look forward to continuing the work together in 2026.
